Canine Massage:
What is Massage?
Massage is the use of touch, light stroking, kneading, friction and compression techniques that work to relax, loosen and bring oxygen and nutrients to the muscles of the body.
Who Benefits from Massage?
Puppies - Massage increases circulation bringing nutrients to growing bones and eases growing pains. Massage accustoms your pet to being handled, increasing their comfort at vet and grooming appointments.
Seniors - Massage can help strengthen and tone the muscles (which support the joints) , reduce inflammation, and release endorphins to reduce pain. Massage also aids circulation to provide essential oxygen and nutrients throughout the body while removing toxins, thus helping support the heart and kidney function.
Athletes - Massage soothes overworked muscles and joints. Massage improves gait, balance and flexibility.
Rescues - Massage reduces the mental and physical stress of joining a new family. Massage builds the human/canine bond and the value of human touch.
Hospitalization/boarding - Massage reduces the stress caused by a new environment with its strange sounds and smells.
Pre/post surgery or illness - Massage speeds healing, relieves pain, and maintains muscle tone and flexibility. Massage reduces the stress of confinement during recovery and helps the body metabolize medications.
Reiki:
What is Reiki?
Reiki, Japanese for "universal energy", is a healing technique where energy is channeled through the practitioner and into the client.
Who Benefits?
All dogs can benefit from Reiki. Reiki balances the energy effecting both the mind and body. Reiki has been shown to help heal injury and illness in addition to reducing anxiety and behavioral problems.
Because Reiki does not involve physical manipulation of the body it can be safely used in combination with any medical treatment.
